re: Algorithm for checking if the game is won I did use a recursive search. I started from squares at one end and if a square was occupied by my color I tried the function recursively from one square over in each relevant direction. If I got to the other end it was a win.

Algorithm for checking if the game is won I tried implementing a recursive depth first search on each player's occupied board spaces but it didn't work out. Without going into specifics, can you give us any hints or suggestions on the algorithm?

Shawn White won the gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games in snowboarding, even before he performed this amazing stunt. The 1260 degree flip stunt was performed on his second run, even after he had claimed the gold medal. Right before his second run, the commentators said, "Shawn White's Double McTwist would be the icing on this cake. Shawn White- the move that everybody has been talking about. The move that some have called 'The Big Mac,' 'The Big McTwist,' 'The Double McTwist'..." - notice all the McDonald's terms. As much as I enjoy watching Shawn White snowboard, I wish that he would have named his new and original trick anything else but something that sounds like something you can order at the golden arches.

So, I think everyone is slightly confused on exactly what mcdonaldization is. It is not McDonalds taking over the world or being advertised everywhere, but rather the conceptualization of the commodification of cultures through capitalism. McDonalds, is defined by American culture, and can thus take over entire markets, much like it has in many areas of the world. The example I provide above is also to demonstrate a form of McDonaldization. The NFL, a larger corporation is trying to take over the smaller groups of individuals trying to sell and provide to the local communities dedicated to the saints football team winning a super bowl. These local groups having created a spirit and community identity out of the phrase "who dat" sparked from the event of the saints football team, who usually does terrible throughout the history of the NFL, to bond a community to achieve success, the Lombardy Trophy to New Orleans, as well as a renewed spirit of community post the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Saints arena was even a place where many people fled to after losing their homes in the devastation of the hurricane, creating deeper ties to the Saints success and community spirit. However, because capital is involved, and people are spending money, as well as the fact that to spread the message and phrase "who dat" (Remember to individuals dedicated to the New Orleans Saints success, and the greater bonding of post Katrina) requires money to grow and spread, the already larger established institutions also want to ride the train of success, and get their "cut". Because "who dat" uses images of the Saints, primarily the team logo, the NFL claims that it has rights to all the merchandise sold. The primary function and purpose of the phrase "who dat", in my opinion, was to create a bond between a community after the catastrophic events of hurricane Katrina, despite the fact it was born from the fans and acclaim of a football team. This is McDonaldization because the NFL is commodifying this community phrase for profit and attempting to take the money from the communities that created and grew the phrase.

God of War 3 fits the topic of discussion. The game is about a hyper-muscular, hyper-aggressive male character single-handedly taking on armies and creaters beyond the relm of reality. The video game perpetuates the use of power by displaying a single person being capable of conquering all. Profit is gained as you continue to win you advance through the game simultaneously building confidence. Pleasure is involved by providing an escape for players who use the game as an outlet from reality into and alternate reality full of death, destruction, and glory.

Cooking Mama is a video game that shows you all the ingredients you need to make a dish, and how to cook it. It is intended for the younger audience, ranging from 3 years old and up. When I used to work at a daycare, all the young girls had this game on their Nintendo DS. This game shows that a woman should be domestic and stay in the kitchen and cook. Even at a very young age, girls are taught to be domestic and learn/know how to cook. This is showing the stereotypical duties of a woman shown in society today. I think this is a negative game for girls because it pushes for the stereotypes and doesn't show the true abilities of a woman. They only have a woman chef on this game, and I believe that's wrong; they should also have male chefs to show men can be domestic, too.

I can't beleive this picture! It totally objectifies women by claiming the only important part of these women are their bodies. By covering up their faces with brown bags they give the idea that they women are ugly and the only part the viewer of the picture needs to see are their breasts and stomachs. I am not sure if the wakeboard company, Nebraska Wakeboard, is trying to ilicit to the possible buyer of these boats or wakeboards that they will receive these girls or at least get their attention with the purchase of their porduct(s). This is just gross to me!

This picture, from "Che Men's Magazine", clearly represents the objectification of a women as nothing more than a game men play because there is a controller coming out of her belly button. This picture is portraying the image that men are and will always be dominant over women. They will always have the "controller" making the woman do any and everything they want her to do. The controller is like her umbilical chord; everyone is born with one therefore objectifying that all women were born to be controlled by men.
This woman is being portrayed as a sexual character and any man is able to play her any way he wants to. By the looks of this picture, it looks like she is already sweaty which probably means she just got finished with another man and is ready for the next. Woman are objectified as a toy and/or a game men can play and pass on to one another. [wiki assignment #3]
{439_objectification.jpg}
Women are objectified all the time; even more so in advertisement. With this particular ad it shows women to be in the likeness of luggage. All set up on the shelves for purchase. Portraying them as consumer products and that all women can be bought; all that needs to be known is the asking price or tag price. In our culture this is a huge topic. From women marrying for money and not love. Younger women marrying much older men for their money and to either learn to love them or just deal with them until they die and leave their widow with the initial fortune.

Super Mario Bros. Theme song is not only a pop culture artifact in American, but also this song is known world wide. People who have never even played the game know this song.
